Case Report

Applied for a freelance visa (Freiberufler) in Hamburg. This is my third attempt after two previous rejections based on insufficient client contracts.

This time I came with 3 signed client contracts totaling €72,000 annual projected income, proof of professional qualifications (university degree + portfolio), and a business plan.

The officer requested additional documentation:

Tax registration (Steuernummer) — I had to explain I'm applying before I can register

Professional liability insurance quote (not yet purchased)

Client reference letters in addition to contracts

Status: Pending. Was told to expect a decision in 4-6 weeks. Appointment experience: Officer spoke only German. Recommend bringing a translator.
